Chase Scenes Are Difficult
I have an hour before work and I want to get this chase scene done! I'm nearly there! Part of the problem with chase scenes is that there's rarely any dialog (realistically) that can happen during one! I need to get to the dialog!

Victory Is Sweet!
So 365 words today :-D Thanks in great part to the boost from Wayne Thomas Batson. It had been a long and rather tedious day and tomorrow isn't going to be fun at all at work, and I was going to be content with 100 wds before work, but then the challenge hit and I decided "Why not. . someone needs to have a lousy day besides me" and so Mynasthoa (my character) had a lousy day too. But he's a whole lot closer to having a terrible day. So I'm happy :-D
Writing 11/12/09 I need to get this hunt/chase done! Please Lord
Jesus please, this thing is a mountain in my way, I can't see around it or get over it, and the words in me are caught up behind it. Please Lord, Living Word, make this mountain move.

All right it's 9:39 here and I'm going to write for an hour
I need to get out of this mind set that "Writing is work" when last year at this time writing was play so I looked forward to it and didn't procrastinate like I'm doing riiiight now.
No more posting, Scribe. Write.
Go play with your characters.
Does anyone have any advice they want to share on keeping writing fun?
Anyone else here feel that writing is hard work?
Let me know in the comments.
Right, going now.
Going.
Writing.
Really.

Really not feelin the words today . . .However . .goal is 500
Right, despite all the personal hairballs and glumness that has caught up with me today, the goal is 500 wds. I'm not at work and I still have eight hours left in the day.
Any other writers wanna leave their word-count goal for the day or the week here? Go on! Iron Sharpens Iron

So there was this guy . ..
I love it when I fall asleep thinking about something plot wise that I just can't seem to get right and then *BAM* I wake up and there's a lingering sense of the problem's been solved and when I poke around in my brain all of a sudden the solution is there!
Last night that happened. It was an OH moment, where something the protagonist does, carries much more weight than he knows. The antagonist knows that his (the protag) showing up there means that they are getting close to their(angag) goal of disrupting a communications network but now I need to somehow have the protagonist connect the dots and get to the same page that the antagonist is on.
Hmm.
Maybe I'd better take a nap. :-D
Writing goal today: 250 wrds before work.

Gatekeeper
That's what I am at work, I'm a gatekeeper. I recommend books, I don't recommend others.
I'm not the buyer, I'm not the owner.
I'm the Assistant Manager in the smallest of all three His Way stores.
However I've worked for the owner for eight years now and she listens to me somewhat and allows me some leeway in what I put where in the store.
As of today, I'm stepping into that gatekeeper role and doing something that makes me sad.
I'm gently closing the door gently against Ted Dekker.
Why?
His latest book, Green, begins marrying Christianity and several other religions in ways that I don't like. There is also a matter of bizarre characters and creatures in it and a level of sensuality which is unnecessary.
Before you get all angry and spitting, I'm not the only one that's noticed this.
Now, I read and loved Thr3e, and I read Blink and loved it, then I back tracked and read Blessed Child and A Man Called Blessed which he wrote with Bill Bright. I loved those too, and gloried in the fact that I had found a writer who could push the envelope and come up with amazing and hard hitting Christian fiction. I didn't like Obsessed but that's because of the subject matter and the violence level. I gave my copy away to a friend who loved it, and got a lot out of it.
I read Black and was confused a little and intrigued by where he was going with the thought he started. I bought Red and started it and began to get a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach. But, this was new territory and I was going to stick it out. White came out and I bought it in hard cover for $11.97 the day it released. I was so mad at him by the end of that book that my head hurt. I sold all three later that year in a yard sale to someone for 5$ for all three.

True Confessions
A finished product is easier to sell than a concept.
A finished story is easier to market than an idea.
Selling other people's books is easier than writing my own.
Some days I don't think I have a story to tell.
Other days it gets lodged in my throat and I feel like I'm going to choke to death on it.
I am very much afraid I'm too much of a coward to finish what I've started.
Other people's opinions of my tale mean more to me than they should
I'm afraid I'm listening too much to everyone else.
If I don't get this thing finished, I think I will die.
